Little Sue

Little Sue (Susannah Weaver) has been a mainstay of the Portland Americana/Outlaw Country/Folk Rock scene for more than 25 years and a big part of the Laurelthirst scene. Her quirky lyrical style, solid guitar playing and bee stung voice have won over music lovers of every age and stripe. With six releases to her credit and a seventh, Gold, in the works for release in the Spring of 2019, Little Sue has developed a deep and varied catalogue of work that continues to grow.

Of the six full length CD recordings to her credit, 1999’s crow release stands out as a hallmark recording but has been out of print for years.

Secret Sound Recordings is proud to recognize the February anniversary of the original release with The 20^th Anniversary Edition of crow, on vinyl for the first time ever. The vinyl edition includes a bonus track never before released titled Built For Love which was a demo track from the original Shine session with Little Sue on acoustic guitar and vocals. The CD version includes a second bonus track with the inclusion of the original demo of Shine featuring Little Sue on acoustic guitar and vocals.

The 20^th Anniversary Edition of crow features a Who’s Who (including several inductees of the Oregon Music Hall of Fame) of the Portland music scene including Phil Baker on bass, Paul Brainard on the pedal steel and various other guitars, Tim Ellis on mandolin, Nancy Hess on bass and backing vocals, Marilee Hord on violin, Lara Michell on piano and backing vocals, Warren Pash on the Wurlitzer, Bingo on banjo and guitars Gregg Williams on drums and percussion and Mike Danner on accordion to name a few.

Originally recorded and brilliantly mixed by Gregg Williams, The 20^th Anniversary Edition of crow captures layers of Outlaw Country/Americana music performed by some of Portland’s finest musicians with songwriting, guitar and soulful vocal performances by Little Sue.
